The Ravens were backed by a vocal travelling support
A second half Charlie Higgins strike ensured FC Isle of Man ended 2022 with an away win at promotion chasing Avro.
With a 12th man in fine voice, the Ravens dug deep and delivered a result worthy of their recent performances.
After a decent first half from the Ravens, the game struggled to get going properly in the second half, with the Ravens’ twitter account referring to the early stages as ‘very scrappy’.
But cometh the hour (mark) cometh the man and Charlie Higgins didn’t disappoint as the ball fell to him at the edge of the area, he set himself before picking out the bottom right corner from 20 yards.
From there the Ravens continued to press from the front with James Rice and his defence going about their jobs when called upon to ensure that Higgins’ goal was enough to ensure the Ravens would be bringing the three points back to the Bowl.
Speaking after the game, manager Paul Jones said: ‘That performance was off the back of improving performances and quite rightly, we deserved to come away with the victory against one of the top sides of the division, so it’s a great way to finish the year.’
The Ravens next game is early next week, when relegation threatened Burscough become the first team to enter the bowl for 2023, that game kicks off at 4.30pm on Monday January 2.
That comes before a second home game in a week, as Kendal Town, who sit one place above Jones’ men, visit on Saturday January 7, kick off is the usual 6pm for that one.
