Southern 100 2024 Dates Confirmed

The Southern 100 will return next year, with four evening of racing in early July.

As part of those plans, organisers have launched the 2024 finishers plaque fund.

The plaques are given to riders who don’t qualify for an award but does finish a race.

Organisers said: ‘Each plaque is a cost of £5 and all subscribers are acknowledged in official race programme and a draw is made at the Southern 100 Prize Presentation.

‘This year the draw was made at our recent monthly meeting by our membership secretary Brenda Rothwell. The winners of the £200 travel voucher kindly donated by our headline sponsor Isle of Man Steam Packet Company was Dave and Ang Broadbent from Fleetwood.

‘The runner up was Reds Garage Ltd who received a cheque for £50.’

The return of the Southern 100 will be welcome news to fans and competitors who may have had concerns for its future after the tragic deaths of Alan Connor and Liam Clarke, a rider and marshal, who died in a crash that saw the 2023 event abandoned.

The circumstances of their deaths are still under investigation and a full inquest will be held in due course.

Racing well be held on the evenings of July 8,9, 10 and 11, with the latter also having day-time road closures.
