South’s New Gym

Published

on

A new gym is set to open in the island’s ancient capital.

Evolution Fitness has said it is taking over the former Body Craft Gym, in Castletown’s Mannanan House.

The building has been taken over by the owner of Revolution, which provides a women’s fitness centre in Ballasalla.

In a post on its Facebook page, Lisa Grant, of Revolution, said: ‘After many weeks of negotiations we are now just a few days away from opening a commercial gym in the former BodyCraft building in Castletown square.’

She added: ‘Evolution will replicate the format BodyCraft was before in respect of being a mixed gym with a commercial feel and general classes. There’s still lots of bits and pieces to sort with how it will all work etc and you probably have lots of questions that I may not know the answer too ? but I will keep you all updated. It’s a very exciting time and I am so happy to be able to offer this much needed and much used service in the south of the island.’

The former gym, Body Craft, closed in October, after the owners said they had been forced to close due a dispute with the landlord.

Update

Since posting this piece, we have been contact by the owners of Body Craft to say they have not sold their business, that they are still in dispute with the landlord and that the new gym set up is a lease deal for the building alone.
