Strong Performances by Manx Athletes in BUCS Championships
A win for Tazmin & a season’s best time for Aimee
Instead of spending the bank holiday weekend baking cupcakes but eating too much of the raw batter to make the actual cupcakes, two Manx athletes made use of the time much more productively.
Tazmin Fayle and Aimee Christian were competing in the British Universities Track & Field Championships at SportCity in Manchester.
Tazmin (representing Edge Hill University, Liverpool) won the ‘B’ Final in the Women’s Discus with a throw of 38.35 metres, very close to her personal best and Isle of Man record: 38.69m.
Meanwhile, Aimee (representing Chester University) smashed her 400m time, which got her qualification for the semi-finals. Christian started this year with a 400m best of 64.40 seconds and on Saturday she ran 60.96 in her heat to qualify for Sunday’s semi-finals in which she ran 61.24.
Well done to both!
