Teaching Self Defence

Impact Kickboxing and Martial Arts has crafted a ladies self defence course led by a British and World Champion.

David Pearson, who is also the head coach, led the course earlier thus month.

In a career that has seen him compete around the world, Dave has trained to be a certified Cobra Martial Arts Association Self Defence instructor.

The courses cover a wide range of areas such as restrain and control, deescalation and escape difficult situations.

Domestic abuse has a higher rate of repeat victimisation than any other crime, and on average, the island’s police receive over nine emergency calls relating to domestic abuse every week.

Dave told Gef: ‘Domestic violence is happening and impact kickboxing wants to support our ladies in our community to help them have the awareness of how to deal with challenging situations.’
