Work to replace track on the MER near Groudle is due to be finished by the end of the month.
The railway season starts up on Wednesday March 12.
The project at Eskadale involves replacing 600m of track, improving drainage and installing new kerbs.
‘Local resources are being utilised with the over 700 sleepers manufactured on island and the majority of the 2,000 tons of ballast being made from recycled Manx stone,’ the gov said.
‘This aims to reduce the project’s carbon footprint and also benefits the local economy.’
