Road to Reopen

Light the beacons, get pictures for the Gram and remember where you were when you heard it, the road from Fort North to the bottom of Richmond Hill will reopen this evening.

The road is due to reopen at about 6.30pm.

When this happens momentous joyous occasion happens, the road past the Energy from Waste Plant will once again become a dead end, in what can be only be seem as a shame to people who liked that route from Kewaigue.

For anyone who has forgotten the way after two months of the road being closed, signage will be in place to direct traffic to Spring Valley Road for all destinations in the south, while all traffic from the south will go on the road it used to go on just a few short  weeks ago.

The DoI said: ‘Please note that our team is now resurfacing the valley floor at the foot of Richmond Hill and temporary traffic lights are in operation. It is anticipated that these temporary traffic lights will be in play for several more days.

‘Please anticipate that there may be queues at peak travel times and adjust travel times to suit. Motorists are reminded that there is a 30mph temporary speed limit in place ion the approach to the works. Where necessary our staff will switch the traffic lights to manual operation during commuter periods in order to mitigate the impact of these works’

Update: As has been pointed out to us, the Richmond is actually the bit by the Horse’s Home, not the section that was closed.
