Some Roads Still Shut

Published

on

A few roads are still off-limits this morning following Storm Chandra.

The Switchback Road, which was closed overnight, is expected to reopen around midday today.

Kentraugh Back Road in Port St Mary is still very much blocked after a handful of giant trees decided to take a nap across the road.

Crews are working to clear them, but for safety reasons, it’s all happening in daylight and will take several hours.

And in Douglas, Granville Street remains closed thanks to rogue roof slates falling where they shouldn’t. Douglas City Council is talking to property owners to sort it out, so for now, it’s a no-go.

Elsewhere, the department says storm debris has blocked drains on the A3 between Kirk Michael and German, causing localised flooding in areas with poor visibility.

The road will close to through traffic from 10am to midday tomorrow (Thursday), with diversions in place, though access for residents, buses and emergency services will be maintained.
