64% Flights Delayed on Friday

Ronaldsway experienced ‘more delays than anticipated’ on Friday, as just eight flights went on time.

Yesterday DoI Minister  Chris Thomas said he hopes to see the rolling daily closures and restrictions eased next month.

The latest daily figures from the airport show there were 22 scheduled departures, of which eight (36.36%) went on time, with half of the 14 delayed flights being between an hour and two hours late.

A further three flights were up to 30 minutes late, with the other three delayed by between 30 minutes and an hour.

The top reasons for the delays are:

• Adjusted inbound arrival time to avoid ATC Closure
• •Ramp congestion
• Multiple off-schedule aircraft
• ATC slot restrictions at destination airports

The airport added: ‘We experienced a significant number of departing flights, but unfortunately, there were more delays than anticipated. We appreciate disruptions are inconvenient for passengers, and thank you for your patience and understanding.

‘Additionally, please note that a number of significant thunderstorms are predicted over the UK today. These storms could potentially impact flights, so we strongly advise all passengers to check their airline updates regularly for any potential changes to their travel plans.

‘On a positive note, we were pleased to wave off the competitors of the Isle of Man’s team for the Island Games as they made their way to Guernsey. Wishing all Isle of Man competitors the best of luck over this coming week.’
