Expect Delays Tonight
With the Mountain Road shut until midday tomorrow at the earliest, all the extra traffic has piled onto the Douglas–Ramsey Coast Road, and Laxey felt it hard this morning.
Manx Utilities is in the middle of essential works on Ramsey Road, swapping out old power poles under temporary traffic lights.
The result? A sluggish rush hour through the village today.
The DoI says the Manx Utilities crew aims to take the temporary lights down before this evening’s rush hour to keep things moving.
But, and there’s always a but, today’s job includes a planned power outage, so if anything runs late, the lights will have to stay put until everyone’s electricity is safely back on.
There is some good news for tomorrow though: no temporary lights until after the morning rush hour. A rare win for commuters.
Highway Services thanked road users for their patience and gave a nod to the Manx Utilities team for trying to keep disruption to a minimum.
