Warning For Rest of The Week

Police are warning drivers to take care as icy patches affect roads across the Isle of Man.

‘Many of our roads have icy patches this morning, and this is likely to be the case over the next few days. Please take extra care and allow extra time for your journey,’ said the constabulary.

Motorcycles are particularly at risk. Officers advise avoiding the Creg Ny Baa Back Road if possible.

The spokesperson added:’Motorcycles are having more difficulty than other vehicles and we would ask you to consider the most appropriate means of transport if you have the option.

‘The Creg Ny Baa Back Road has been particularly problematic, and we would suggest that it is avoided by 2-wheeled traffic.’

The Department of Infrastructure continues to treat roads with salt, but it can wash away on wet or thawing surfaces. Care is still needed, even on main routes.
