Mountain Road To Close & Tents To Flap!

If you’re camping, commuting, or clinging to a gazebo, hold on tight.

The Isle of Man Government has issued a heads-up as some pretty aggressive weather is due to blow in from 9pm tonight (Monday).

With gusts expected to reach up to 55mph and some fairly miserable rain on the cards, a yellow weather warning is now in place.

Government departments, including Infrastructure, Home Affairs and Enterprise, say they’re working with campsite providers and local commissioners to help anyone under canvas who might need somewhere sturdier to shelter.

The Sea Terminal will also be open overnight for anyone caught out by delayed or cancelled sailings, and the Civil Defence Corps will be on standby to help those in need. (If that’s you, ring 07624 331673.)

Over on the TT course, the Mountain Road is getting shut down early.

The stretch from Ramsey Hairpin to Creg-ny-Baa will close at 7pm tonight and stay closed until Tuesday’s racing wraps up.

Race organisers want time to inspect the course, double-check signage, and make sure everything’s safe and sorted before bikes hit the road.

All roads are due to close at 10am tomorrow.

So, in brief:

Campers: Secure your tents, awnings and belongings.

Locals: Tie down bins, BBQs, and anything else that might fly into next week.
