Gale Force Winds Arriving
The lovely bunch at the Ronaldsway Met Office have kindly let us know that tomorrow’s weather is going to be… a tad wild.
There’s a yellow weather alert for gale or severe gale force southerly winds from 6am to 3pm Friday – perfect timing for your morning commute and lunchtime stroll.
Gusts of up to 50-60mph are to sweep across the island (nothing on Storm Eowyn), but if you’ve got any loose garden furniture or washing on the line, you might want to bring it in.
The Met Office warns there could be fallen branches and trees, which might make travel a bit tricky. So if you’re heading out, maybe give yourself a bit of extra time.
Good news though – by the afternoon, the wind should ease up a bit and swing round to the southwest.
Oh, and if you were planning on heading out to sea (for whatever reason – we’re not judging), the shipping forecast says it’s going to be rough or very rough out there.
We’re talking winds at a solid gale force 7 or 8, sometimes cranking up to a severe gale 9 in the west.
Things should calm down a bit by Saturday morning, but we reckon sticking to dry land is your best bet unless you really enjoy rollercoaster waves.
Stay safe, and maybe avoid wearing that hat you’re particularly fond of.
