It’s Gritting Time: Ice Warning Issued As Temps Drop

Published

on

Ronaldsway Met Office has slapped a yellow weather warning on the Isle of Man as temperatures are set to dip below zero tonight and into tomorrow morning.

So, if you were planning on heading out in your flip-flops – maybe rethink that.

From 7pm tonight (Wednesday) until 10am tomorrow (Thursday), frost is expected to form, especially in low-lying sheltered areas. The real kicker? Icy patches on untreated roads and pavements, particularly where there’s been rain or seepage. So, watch your step unless you fancy an impromptu skating session.

The DoI gritters will be out in force, covering the Mountain Road (A18), the Ramsey to Onchan Coast Road (A2), the main Douglas to Peel Road (A1), Ballamodha to Ballacraine (A3), Ramsey to Ballacraine (A3) , Richmond Hill to the Airport (A5) and the Peel to Michael Coast Road (A4).

The DoI duty officer is also on standby to unleash more salt if needed.

Basically, wrap up warm, drive sensibly, and try not to fall on your backside (but if you or someone you know does, try record it and send it to us on socials or at hello@gef.im).
