A Prezzie fit for a King

Published

on

With the gov sending a really stunning and beautiful handcrafted wooden bowl to the Lord of Mann for his Coronation, it left us thinking what else could we have sent.

While none of our suggestions are as good as the bowl, we think they should at least have been considered.

Falcons

Historically the island has presented the new sovereign with two peregrine falcones. While the bowl incorporates this, who wouldn’t pay good money too see Sir John Lorime and the Chief Minister driving down the motorway in Man 1 with the falcons flapping round on the back seat.

Tea Towel

Manxies love a tea towel, especially one which depicts the island. As Lord of Mann, we sure Charles would love one too, we couldn’t decide between one showing off the TT course or our tourists attractions, so we just thought we’d have another whip round and get him a collection, one for every kitchen.

Manx Monopoly

Something for Prince George and his siblings to fight over while the fam is out on the balcony waving to the plebs. Plus, it will give him a bit of go at owning parts of the island before he gets to do it for real.

Young Farmers’ Tickets

The hottest ticket on the Isle of Man and, even better, Charles wouldn’t have to sit in the Sea Terminal all night. We’ll have a word with the Young Farmers’ and we’re sure we can find the King some seats down the back. Who knows, the King is known for his love of theatre and has even acted a bit himself, maybe he’d be up for a cameo.

For all the years he’s sat through the Royal Variety, it’s time for him to see some real culture.

The Calf

Just a nice day out, do some bird watching, have a picnic, ideal for a man who loves the great outdoors.

Train Ticket

If the whip-round stretched far enough, we could get the King a season pass for the railways. He already has the royal carriage, providing the ideal place for a boozy afternoon with some gin in a tin and a bite to eat at the Cosy Nook, all finished up with an ice cream, a right royal day out to be had there.

Curraghs

Again one for the grandkids really, they could go see the fishing cat and the penguins. But if Charles was to take advantage of a family ticket, he’d need to pay homage to Manx royalty, our beloved Kush, the People’s Panda (RIP).

Manx Cat

Bit controversial this, but the island needs a presence in London and who better than a Orry the Manx cat. A keen mouse catcher, he could hang out and enjoy a nice stretch in the throne room. Not sure how he’d get on with the corgis, but we think he’d soon feel right at home.
