If you don’t work in telecoms then you probably haven’t heard of Mobile World Congress or OV, to be honest we hand’t either.

Mobile World Congress (MWC) is the largest connectivity event in the world with over 100,000 in attendance. It’s the place to be for anyone in the telecoms industry, from the big global guys – Huwawaii literally drop millions and have an army of staff in attendance to the smaller global guys.

Enter OV. OV is an offshoot of Manx Telecom, from humble beginnings they have grown over ten years as Internet of Tings connectivity provider.

When they say growth, they mean that seven million, SIM cards from the Isle of Man are distributed in devices all over the world. Everything from Smart Home devices to coffee machines in well known brands high street stores and healthcare.

The King of Spain

OV punch well above their weight on the IoT, and this year stepped up to fly the Manx Flag at the 2023 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. 8 Manxies made their way to the industry event last week, putting the Isle of Man on the map as an island of innovation in the IoT space. The only Manx company with representation at the event.

It was certainly an eye opener for the team who saw everything from the King of Spain to industry experts sharing their views on the latest developments in eSIM.
