Can you Knit Hearts for Hospice?

At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, local volunteer heroes started crafting pairs of knitted hearts and donating them to Hospice in their hundreds.

Whilst patients and families were separated due to the restrictions in place at the time, the hearts were used to make them feel connected whilst apart.

One heart was given to a patient, and the other was taken home with family.

Hospice said: ‘Even now restrictions have been lifted our Palliative Care Nurses continue to offer the hearts to patients and families, who find them a real source of comfort. Unfortunately, our stock of hearts is now running low, and we are appealing to local crafters to please pick up their knitting needles, crochet hooks and sewing needles and send in their pairs of crafted hearts.

‘Any help would be truly appreciated! If you think you can knit even a few pairs of hearts for us, please drop us a message. Hearts can be brought into the Hospice directly.’
