Two of the island’s lifeboat stations have been celebrating this week with two crew members achieving new qualifications.

Talking of Port Erin, Lewis Barritt passed out as an ILB Lifeboat Crew AND Launching Authority this week.
Lewis, along with the other LA, François Laisney is responsible for authorising the launching of our Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat when assistance is requested following a 999 call.
Simon Bunting (trainer assessor from RNLI HQ) Ian Wilkinson (Helm), Lewis Barritt (Lifeboat Crew & LA) and Kim Holland (Trainee Lifeboat Crew).
Meanwhile, Peel Lifeboat’s Emma Le Cornu has passed the RNLI assessment to launch and recover the Shannon lifeboat.
The station said: ‘Emma makes a huge contribution to the Peel Lifeboat family. Not only is she one of the qualified drivers for our Shannon Launch and recovery rig, Emma is also the chairman of our busy fundraising crew. Thank you Emma for your commitment and hard work! And thank you to everyone who has supported her lifeboat journey with their time, advice and encouragement.’
