Blast From Manx Retail Past Washes up on a Scottish Beach

A blast from the Isle of Man’s retail past has washed up on a Scottish beach, and it’s still telling everyone to ‘please reuse me!’

The Solway Firth Partnership shared a photo on Facebook today (Friday) showing a Manx to the Max Shoprite bag spotted during a beach clean at Southerness, SW Scotland.

That’s right, a long-retired island shopping bag has somehow made its way across the Irish Sea.

Shoprite stores were all rebranded to Tesco between February 2024 and February 2025 after the sale in October 2023, which makes you wonder: how many times did this bag dodge the recycling bin before taking a detour across the sea?
