It’s Going to be Quackers

After being postponed last month due to weather, the Laxey and Lonan Heritage Trust 35th anniversary duck race will go ahead this weekend.

Tickets are now on sale for Saturday races at JJ Ribbons and they are £2 each. 

It is being held at The Washing Floors, Laxey Valley Gardens and gets underway at 2pm. 

Also being held on Saturday is the Laxey bin race, this is from 3.30pm and involves a short obstacle course with an empty bin where players collect bags of rubbish along the way. Teams must consist of four people and whoever wins will then compete against the Kinrade brothers for the chance to win a trophy. 

The Trust has also announced that they are holding a competition with a chance to win a £100 Steam Packet voucher. To enter you must travel to the Duck race by either bus or tram and take a selfie as you travel, then send it to the Laxey and Lonan Heritage Facebook page. The deadline to upload them is Monday, September 11 and any pictures clearly not taken the day of the race will be discounted. The winner will be contacted through Facebook messenger.

The Laxey and Lonan Heritage Trust is an organisation dedicated to promoting the history of Laxey as well as the Isle of Man’s mining history, across the Island and elsewhere. The trust has formed a close connection with Manx national heritage as well as the Laxey mines research group, Isle of Man transport and Garff commissioners.
