Missing Collie Rescued From Cliff

Peel Coastguard have returned an owner with his missing dog after a cliff side rescue.
Dan the Collie went missing several days ago around Peel Hill.
Just before 10am on Saturday morning, his owner contacted the Coastguard via the Marine Operations Centre at Douglas saying he had heard his dog barking from below the coastal footpath at the back of Peel Hill.
A patrol from Peel Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked to investigate further and see if Dan the collie could be seen. Using their personal drone, a member of the team was able to locate Dan at 10:40am. He appeared fit and well but was on a large grassy ledge on the cliff about eight metres above sea level.
The rest of Peel Coastguard Rescue Team, as well as the Coastguard duty officer, were alerted in order to carry out a Rescue.
A suitable location was identified to carry out the rope rescue, using an indirect holdfast along the footpath. A Coastguard cliff technician then descended down what was a particularly technical section of the cliff off approximately 90 meters to a grassy ledge eight meters above sea level. After some coercion using some tasty dog treats, secured Dan.
After being recovered back up to the footpath, Dan was very happy to see his very relieved owner.
The Coastguard said: ‘After his week long ordeal, we are very pleased to have been able to reunite Dan with his owner and we hope he has a speedy and full recovery.
