Ramsey’s Big Bang Blown Off by the Breeze
Bad news for anyone hoping to head north for some Bonfire Night bangs on Sunday – Ramsey’s firework display has been cancelled.
The event was first meant to take place on Saturday, November 1, before being pushed back a day due to ‘logistical issues’.
But on Thursday evening, Ramsey Town Commissioners pulled the plug completely, blaming strong winds forecast for Sunday night.
A spokesperson said safety was their ‘primary concern’ and that they’re looking at the possibility of holding a display ‘at a later date’.
The decision comes as a shipment delay has affected fireworks across the island.
Galaxy Fireworks Isle of Man, which supplies most of the big displays, confirmed its stock won’t land on Manx shores until Friday, October 31, after a hold-up with dangerous goods paperwork on the delivery vessel.
So, for now, it looks like Ramsey’s fireworks are staying firmly in their boxes.
