Well this morning proved to be a great snow day, totally ruined my sledge going down Crellin’s Hill, but let’s see what this afternoon throws up.

We’ll have a rolling update throughout the afternoon and evening, here’s what we know so far:

Power

Power is restored in most of Kirk Michael Village, some surrounding areas are still off-supply, and MUA’s engineers are still in the area working on this.

Roads

The following roads are now closed:
Mountain Road
Beinney Phott Road
Tholt y Will
Sloc / Shoulder Road and roads off this
Cronk y Voddy (Ballig Bridge to Douglas Road Corner)

Buses are no longer servicing Birch Hill and Willaston.

Buses cannot serve Wattersons Lane, Ballachrink, Willaston, Birch Hill, Hailwood Ave estates & Avondale Road at present due to the very poor road conditions.
Serving central Onchan only.
Buses cannot serve the Anagh Coar & Farmhill estates at present due to the very poor weather conditions.
No service 3 & 3A’s are operating out of Ramsey at present due to the very poor road conditions from Ramsey to Dhoon area.
Service 3 & 3A’s out of Douglas can only operate as far as Laxey at present.
Update to follow if the roads improve.

An update from Isle of Man Transport: ‘The 22:10 service 3A & the 23:10 service 3 will not operate out of Ramsey to Douglas tonight as road conditions are very poor at present and unpassable in places.

The 22:10 service 3 from Douglas will only operate as far as Laxey village & return from Laxey at 22:40 to Douglas
Every effort is being made to operate the 23:15 service 3A from Douglas to Ramsey.

Boats

Tonight’s Ben-my-Chree sailing to Heysham has been cancelled, as of course, has the return sailing.

Hospital

If you have a hospital appointment booked for tomorrow afternoon (Friday), this is due to go ahead as planned. However, all face to face outpatient appointments planned for tomorrow morning will be cancelled.

Endoscopy appointments scheduled for the morning have been cancelled and will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

Schools

A decision on schools, UCM and public counters will now be made by 7am tomorrow morning.

The gov has said: ‘These decisions are based on the current forecast of all-island snow coverage during the evening and through the night tonight. The impact of this is difficult to predict, the final decisions will be made once the morning conditions have been assessed. We recognise that this changeable situation has resulted disruption to the public, and thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we respond to the information available to us.’

Gov Counters Etc

Most community and gov sites are now closed or closing.

Noble’s Hospital has cancelled afternoon appointments, except for urgent ones.

A&E etc remain open, but if you have to go, be careful.

The Northern Swimming Pool will be closing at 2pm.

The Northern Civic Amenity Site has now closed.

Businesses

Due to the deteriorating weather, MT will be closing the reception at its HQ from 1pm. Its customer services line will be open as normal on 624624.
