Jersey’s Chief Minister Ousted After No Confidence Vote
A new Chief Minister will be appointed
Jersey has joined its Channel Island neighbour in chucking out its government.
Kristina Moore was only elected as chief minister in 2022.
Deputy Moore lost the vote 27-22 with no abstentions in the States.
The vote was brought by former minister Tom Binet, who said he was unhappy with the way decisions were being made.
The States Assembly now has to vote in a new Chief who will have to appoint a new CoMin.
After the vote, Ms Moore told the BBC: ‘It never should have come to this.’
She said: ‘I’m deeply disappointed that States members have put personal relationships ahead of what is right for the island, particularly when we should be supporting islanders through what is a very challenging economic environment.’
