‘Winter is Here’

Winter has officially decided to rock up on the Isle of Man, and the Mountain Road is, unsurprisingly, the first victim.

Police shut the A18 just after midnight thanks to snow and freezing temperatures, and it won’t be reopening before at least 9am.

In a very cheery morning update, the constabulary said: ‘Winter is here!’

It was warning of icy patches all over the island and telling drivers to take it steady.

Bus Vannin says the closure of the A18 is causing heavy traffic on the lower roads, with some buses running late. They’ve apologised for the faff.
