‘Tis the season to get pissed, eat loads, and fall out at the dinner table over opposing political views. But when the noise of Obama Llama reaches its limit and you’ve hit the point where if you speak to your extended relatives for any longer you might have an aneurism, there’s always common ground where peace can be restored. And that is: Christmas films.

There’s so much choice on what to watch nowadays that it can become detrimental. You begin scrolling with the intention of having a cosy film night in and then realise you’re still scrolling at 6am, eyes red from tiredness and tears, and have to get ready for work having watched nothing but the black hole of limitless options for 14 hours straight.

With that in mind, Gef is here to help by taking the choice out of your hands in a good old dictatorship fashion.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone or any of the Potter films.

The Potter series is a good one if you’re the sort of person who gets inner rage at anyone putting their decorations up before the 23 December. It’ll ease you into the season nice and gently because there’s only one festive scene in them. Which makes sense because, as much as Wizzard wishes (the band, not Harry), Christmas only happens once a year. So settle into the cosy magic and try to ignore the jarring sensation that comes from Harry and Hermione’s acting in the first few films, which is about as painful as trying to eat a pinecone laden wreath.
